"Name My Baby" Contest Winners

The results are in! Thanks to all the entrants, you guys came up with some really killer names. The big winners are:

Tod O’Driscoll for his “Boston Elisha” entry. Kate and Erik are Red Sox fans and are hoping for a boy so they can use this name!

Trina Knudsen for her super creative, unique entry of “Anjuly Erin” for a little girl.

I can safely say that Kate and Erik need no longer worry about having to name their baby “Munchkin-Peanut Dungan”. Thank goodness!

MAC Air... who is getting one?

As a matter of fact, as CEO of BIG Folio, I was planning on buying one as my main machine. After I read the below, maybe not.

MAC Air I was reading another blog and ran across this astute piece of analysis on who’s going to buy the new MacBook Air:

It is a laptop for apple fans and people who rely on material goods to demonstrate their worth to other people.

This seems to be an incredibly useless laptop that really only has a market among the yuppies and Mac sycophants with cash to waste on an underpowered,1-USB port, overpriced toy that in the end just looks pretty and nothing else.

It is primarily going to be purchased by people with too much time / money to do a little independent thinking (read: Starbucks junkies, college students with allowances from the parents, fashionistas, etc.).

I know full well what people i will see with this laptop and they aint the sort of people i get along with. Pricks basically.

BIG Folio Name My Baby Contest

BIG Folio is excited to announce that BF Baby #9 is on its way! Proud parents Erik Dungan and wife Kate are inevitably excited as can be, but there is one TINY catch…coming up with a name for their fourth child is proving to be extremely difficult.

To put it bluntly, as of right now, the baby’s name is going to be Peanut. Or Munchkin. They need your help!

Here are the specs:

2 Entry Categories: (A) Most Creative, and (B) Kate and Erik’s Personal Favorites.

Some hints:

  • The Dungans are suckers for first names that have the letter ‘Y’ in them, along with middle names that start with letter ‘E’ (for example ‘Camryn Elizabeth’).

  • Dad Erik loves to cook gourmet meals, crack jokes when you least expect, and go snowshoeing. Mom Kate finds her solace in playing music, designing jewelry, and watching 80’s movies.
  • Both a boy and girl name entry will be picked for each of our two categories. Our lovely prizes include: $75 Barnes and Noble gift card, our (new!) BIG Folio Search Engine Optimization DVD, a (new!) BIG Folio Texture Set, and a super couture BIG Folio Tshirt.

Enter to contests@bigfolio.com. Deadline is 12PM Pacific time, Saturday, January 19.

    Introducing Flexible Payment Options

Good news. We've implemented a new flexible payment option when purchasing a new BIG Folio website. Simply select the "FlexPay" option when choosing your new site and your setup fee will be split across the first 2 (Standard) or 3 (Premium) months.

You can purchase a new Premium Site for $400/month for 2 months, then $25/month thereafter. (EDITED TO CHANGE FROM THREE PAYMENTS TO TWO)

You can purchase a new Standard Site for $142/month for 2 months, then $17/month thereafter

It's like an ARM loan for your website. Not really.

    What to Expect in 2008

    by Lawren Ussery

Wedding trends, like any other fad, constantly evolve along with the modern brides they serve. Here is a little compilation of trends I’ve noticed or heard whispers of in the recent weeks. A few of them (I think) provide for some pretty unique photo ops.

    • Bold, saturated colors. Expect to see jewel tones like cerulean, emerald green, and plum exchanged for whites, creams and subdued pastels.
    • Disney Inspired Gowns. At first I thought this was a really bad idea, but Disney seems to have gotten it right. The gowns are affordable, and they’re totally chic. I particularly like the “Belle” and “Ariel” inspired dresses.
    • Glam Brides. I.e., over the top hairstyles, super luxurious papery and décor, even raspberry or plum colored wedding gowns. Talk about color saturation.
    • Estate Tables. No more eight-to-a-table rounds; long and linear is the way to go. Estate table schemes also allow for a totally unique and different breed of centerpiece (something us floral designers love to imagine about).
    • Split-Personality Brides. Don’t be surprised if the bride you are shooting for goes MIA for a few minutes only to make a grand (second) entrance dressed in a totally new outfit (and maybe even a new hairstyle).
    • Eco-Friendly and Organic Weddings. Brides are taking conservation much further than just using recycled paper for wedding invitations. With so many different options, couples could potentially throw a completely sustainable wedding, using bamboo linens, organically grown food and pesticide-free flowers. The most eco-conscious couples are even going so far as to exchange their wedding limo for a bicycle-built-for-two.

    back to NERD
by John Michael Cooper of AltF

in high school i topped out at a 115 lbs., programed in 5 languages, had a serious white boy fro, and always had my glasses in disrepair. 24 years later and a new year and i say to myself, yeah i'm finally cool! Seconds later, delivered by "short circle karma", i hit myself in the face with the refrigerator door. Glasses snapping in half cleanly. It'll be two weeks before i get new glasses in (read special order progressive trifocals) . So if you look for me in tampa next week, i'll be the nerdy one minus the fro of-course... HAPPY NEW YEAR !
